By Terri Pitts & Koach Karl I am corresponding with you today as the u6 Instructional Division Coordinator in my hometown. I have 150 5-year olds about to wrap up their first soccer season, and I am looking for a fun way to do so. Currently our program is set up so that the 150 children are divided equally into 3 different sessions. At each session, 5 teams of 10 players rotate around to various skill stations with their coaches.
Could you suggest a concluding activity that could potentially engage all 50 players per session and their 5 coaches before we move on to awarding participation medals to all?
I sincerely appreciate any suggestions. Terri, Congratulations on ending a 'successful' season with so many young players. You asked the following: "Could you suggest a concluding activity that could potentially engage all 50 players per session and their 5 coaches before we move on to awarding participation medals to all?" I have a fond desire to see the children play 1 vs. 1 and small sided games. Therefore I would suggest some type of 'round robin' 1vs.1 play. And then allowing 'the children' to chose their partner(s) in the small sided games. Ending with a 25 vs. 25 World Cup Game. Finally - Having the coaches and Parents pick teams and allow the children to root them on...! Hope this gives you some ideas and best of luck with this event...!
