The First Year Is The Hardest

Koach Karl - From Coach John Aganost…

Thanks Koach Karl,

I really appreciate Dave Rices' comments. That was very kind of Dave to write that. I'm really glad Coach Rice got something out of my comments. It's a lot harder being a youth soccer coach then most people think, and for a first year coach I think he did a great job. Each year you do it, things get easier, so I think he will find next year will be far easier. Every year you learn more, but the first year is really hard. How should practice be organized, how to deal with kids, how to deal with parents, all of these things are new. So the fact he had such a successful first year says a lot about how well he did.

Get this weekend off, then playoffs a week from Saturday. Fantastic practice today, the girls are now really coming around. All of the FUNdamental stuff is jelling. Even got to play a 4 on 3 two touch game with my 4 strongest players and they managed to beat the 3 dribblers. (Only 7 showed today because of the Thanksgiving holiday.) The passing and moving was extremely impressive. Can't even compare where we are now compared to where we were at the beginning of the season.

Have a great holiday season and thanks so much for the kind comments. My helping out a little doesn't remotely balance out all the fantastic advice you've given me all these years.

Take care

John Anagnost
