FUNdamental Soccer Does Improve the Skills

Koach Karl…The new youth soccer season is about to start. Here's Coach John Anagnost's report from his pre-season tryouts.

We had our try-out this past weekend for the U12 girls. The coordinator took my suggestion on how to run the try-out. It was organized, contained figure 8 dribbling around cones, shooting with left and right feet, a 4 on 4 scrimmage, a passing station and a 40 yard dash. Went through 82 girls in a little more than an hour, utilizing the 8 coaches that were there. You can see below that the coordinator got kudos from the parents, which scored me a few points!

Just wanted to send a note out to say "Thank You" to all of you.  We had a great turn out this past Saturday, we were only missing approximately 27 players out of 109 players.
We also started at about 9:15 and ended about an hour or so later. You all did an outstanding job.  Our division is so successful because of all the great coaches that put their time in.

I had many parents coming up saying how great our assessment process was in comparison to others they had been to.  I told them it was all the coaches.

So, THANK  YOU !!!

As an aside…

It was amazing once again to see the girls in general struggle so much with the cones, even at the U12 age group.

On the other hand, I watched my ex-girls just zip through the cones like they were nothing. FUNdamental soccer really does help improve the skills of the kids compared to other coaching methods.

In addition, thetry-outt was definitely a nice re-union with at least 20 of my old players still playing in the league, some that I last coached when they were 5 and 6.  It doesn't get any better than this …
